TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY DAY 2
July 28 Session A: Workflows that work: Digital Distribution, Manipulation, and Submission
July 28, 2015
Nipmuc Regional High School
8:30-11:30
Presented By: Anthony Amitrano
Best For: Teachers Grades K-12
With an increasing emphasis on technology integration in the classroom, teachers have been discovering various ways to get information to students, have them complete the work, and then turn it in. The number one vehicle for this process has been through email, downloading, and then emailing back to the teacher. Although this simple solution has worked well for a while, there are more efficient ways for increasingly complex media that is available for teacher and student use, as well as for a student to produce. This workshop will focus on the use of Google Classroom as a teacher's online hub for distribution and collection and will also focus on the various tools available for students to manipulate that which has been distributed. Participants are asked to bring a device with them including an iPad, Chromebook, or Windows or Mac laptop.

Participants will:
- Use Google Classroom and Google Drive as a method to distribute material to students (including videos, documents, links, and other digital mediums)
- Use an array of apps and services that allow students to manipulate that which has been distributed, like commenting on shared videos, marking up documents, and synthesizing information on the web.
- Use Google Classroom as a way to collect student work, provide feedback and assessment, and communicate to the student.
- Discuss various scenarios that a workflow is needed and what solutions are available.
- Understand the importance of focusing on the steps of each workflow as part of teaching (and not just assuming that they'll be able to do it naturally).

July 28 Session B: You don't need an app for that
CANCELLED DUE TO LOW ENROLLMENT
July 28, 2015
Nipmuc Regional High School
8:30-11:30
Presented By: Andy Marcinek
Best For: Teachers Grades K-12
This session will share experiences with iPad integration in the classroom and focus around instructional design, rather than hardware and applications. We will go through the instructional design with technology process and develop conversations around how to plan lessons and units that shift learning from a passive, to an active experience. Participants will go through a prototyping session and design a lesson or unit that engages students brains actively during peak learning moments in the classroom. Additionally, participants will learn how to think spatially and design lessons that include every piece of the learning space.

Participants will:
- Leave with a better understanding of the instructional design process with technology
- Leave with concrete examples and resources for integrating hardware and applications in the classroom
- Leave with a prototyped lesson that they can integrate into their own practice
