The Graduate School at WSU is pleased to offer a redesigned, state-approved, cohort-driven mater degree program in school leadership. There are two options for students who wish to pursue this degree: an on-campus program offered through the Department of Education, and a district-based program offered through the Center for Effective Instruction. Successful completion of the program leads to both a Mater of Education (MEd) in Leadership and Administration and licensure as a principal/assistant principal in grades PreK-6, 5-8, 9-12, or supervisor/director licensure.
Defining elements of this Master's degree program:
Coaching: Each candidate will be assigned an experienced school administrator as a coach for the duration of the program. This coach will provide specific advice and assistance as the candidate matriculates through this program.
Field-based learning: At the end of a defined sequece of courses the program requires practice in four areas: instructional leadership, family and community engagement, professional culture, and management and operations.
